The City of San Jose’s Building Division is actively recruiting for multiple full-time Building Inspector Combination positions across Building, Electrical, and Plumbing/Mechanical specialties. Inspectors review plans, issue permits, and conduct field inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with applicable building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and other codes and regulations. The role requires high school graduation or equivalent, construction experience, a valid California driver’s license, and specialty-area commercial certification; candidates may be appointed to higher classifications based on certifications and experience. The positions offer annual salaries ranging from $114,769.20 to $174,370.56 depending on classification.
