Description
The Building Inspector performs building inspections and reviews permit applications, plans, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and zoning documents for compliance with International, Uniform, and National building codes adopted by Elko County. The role includes issuing correction notices, evaluating permit costs, communicating with design professionals, contractors, and the public, and may require on-call availability, weekends, holidays, and outdoor work at construction sites. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent, four years of progressive building-related construction experience or an alternative combination of training and experience, and must obtain ICC Building Inspector I and Residential Building Inspector I certifications within one year of hire.
