Description
The City of Abilene is seeking a Building Official to manage the day-to-day operations of its Building Inspections division under the Planning & Development Services Director. The role supervises inspectors, administers building codes and inspection programs, coordinates plan reviews and inspections, manages staff, budgets, policies, training, discipline, and divisional projects, and works with architects, engineers, contractors, boards, City Council, agencies, and the public. The position performs or oversees onsite inspections for building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical code compliance and requires four years of building-inspection experience, including two years of supervisory experience, a high school diploma or GED, a Texas driver’s license, and at least two specified professional certifications.
