Description
The Building Service Technician 1 provides custodial and preventive building maintenance in an office or correctional facility. The role directs inmate, client, or detainee workers and contractors, performs cleaning, carpentry, painting, plumbing, tool and equipment repairs, and simple electrical work; supervises laundry and maintenance; contributes to maintenance budgeting; maintains records; monitors tool and chemical inventory; and orders supplies. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, preferably one year of building maintenance experience, a valid South Dakota driver's license obtainable within 90 days, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an environment involving machinery, chemicals, and close interaction with inmates or clients.
