The School Bus Assistant assists a bus driver with the safe boarding and alighting of students, secures wheelchairs and other restraints, monitors student conduct, manages passengers, supports emergency evacuation, maintains the vehicle, completes paperwork, and follows safety and professional standards. The role requires applicants to be at least 18 years old (19 for New York School Bus Assistants), meet physical and medical requirements, pass training, and have strong communication, interpersonal, behavior-management, and professionalism skills.
