Description
A bus operator transports passengers along predetermined routes, assists riders with route, fare, boarding, and deboarding information, and handles fare collection, transfers, vehicle defect reporting, radio communication with dispatchers, passenger counts, worksheets, and incident reports. The role requires a safe driving record, the ability to obtain a Class B Illinois driver's license, completion of training and route familiarization, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to operate a vehicle for extended periods in all weather. It is a safety-sensitive position covered by a collective bargaining agreement and pays $26.16 per hour.
