Description
The Animal Caretaker performs routine cage-washing, sanitation, preparation, equipment monitoring, and minor maintenance for research animals. The role operates cage washers and autoclaves, maintains sanitary conditions, follows safety and communication requirements, and may require weekend, holiday, emergency, and storm or natural-disaster work. Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent, strong analytical, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 200 pounds, and the ability to use industrial equipment. Animal-contact incumbents must pass annual occupational health screening, a background check, and a drug screening.
