Description
The Capital Habeas Unit Chief leads all operations, strategic initiatives, and litigation functions for the Capital Habeas Unit while serving as a senior leader and personal advisor to the Federal Public Defender. The role supervises attorneys and professional staff, manages staffing and case assignments, directs complex habeas litigation, advocates in hearings and appellate proceedings, coordinates experts and mitigation efforts, and strengthens collaboration between the Capital Habeas Unit and the Trial Unit. Candidates must be admitted to or seek admission to the relevant federal courts and the Supreme Court, have at least ten years of criminal law experience, and be graduates of an accredited law school.
