Description
The Correctional Counselor will report to the supervisor, case management and plan, coordinate, develop, and implement individual and group counseling programs for assigned inmates. Responsibilities include reviewing inmate files, conducting interviews and assessments, maintaining social development records, providing personal and social adjustment counseling, recommending educational and vocational programs, evaluating progress, coordinating releases and victim notifications, registering GPS units, and maintaining safety and accountability. The role requires an associate’s degree in counseling or a related field, with one year of related experience preferred; an associate’s degree may be substituted by 90 credits, and four years of correctional experience may substitute for education. A valid New Mexico or Texas driver’s license is required unless waived.
