Description

The Town of Stony Plain is hiring Casual Firefighters to respond to fires, rescues, medical aid, hazardous materials, and other emergency and non-emergency calls. The role requires residents of the town to be at least 18, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, a Class 5 non-GDL license with no more than six demerit points, a clean criminal record check, and pass a physical examination and fitness evaluation. Candidates may have fire services or medical education, previous emergency-services experience, a Class 3 license with an air-brake endorsement, or Standard First Aid certification. Approximately 280 hours of accredited training are required, with training attendance on weeknights and some weekends, and applicants may qualify for an accelerated program with NFPA 1001 Level I. The position offers a competitive hourly wage, VFIS 24-hour insurance coverage, and other incentives.
