Smithfield is hiring drivers for a CDL training program requiring a current Class A CDL and at least one year of commercial driving experience. The role involves completing a 5-7 week training program and then performing duties such as driving, delivering feed, loading and unloading animals, complying with DOT regulations, following safety procedures with animal welfare as the top priority, and reporting accidents and farm or plant issues. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, have an acceptable driving record, be able to obtain a DOT medical card, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. The job also requires physical ability to lift 50 pounds, operate a manual transmission tractor, and perform trailer hookup and pre-trip inspections.
