Description
The role is responsible for designing lithium-ion cells and stacks, including electrode and stack parameters, current collectors, jelly-roll or stacking configurations, electrolyte and separator selection, cell-can or pouch designs, tabs, sealing, safety and abuse testing, design-of-experiments, cycle-life and impedance tracking, and documentation of control plans and design specifications. It requires a degree in an electrical, mechanical, electronics, computer, instrumentation, or related field, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least 8 years of experience in Li-ion cell design, formulation, or close collaboration with cell OEMs, including cell qualification and failure analysis.
