Description
The Central Processing Technician is responsible for transporting, decontaminating, sterilizing, storing, and issuing surgical instruments and supplies; operating sonic cleaners, washer-disinfectors, and Sterrad and steam sterilizers; preparing instrument baskets; maintaining clean work areas; and notifying supervisors of equipment or instrument issues. The role requires enrollment in an accredited Central Processing Technician program, certification after program completion and 400 clinical hours, and a high school or GED.
