The Central Sterilizing Technician decontaminates, inspects, assembles, wraps, sterilizes, and maintains surgical instruments and medical equipment, while monitoring sterilization equipment and supporting operating-room turnover and central supply activities. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, prior central sterilization processing or surgical technician experience, and Central Sterilizing Technician certification within 18 months of hire. It involves exposure to blood and body fluids, hazardous materials, water, and occasional heavy lifting.
