Description
The Central Service Technician cleans, disinfects, and terminally sterilizes instruments and equipment; assembles instrument trays; monitors equipment and instrument problems; and uses steam, Sterrad, and Steris sterilization processes. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution or certification within two years of employment, medical terminology knowledge, psychomotor-learning ability, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. The position works varied shifts in the United States, schedules 40 weekly hours, and involves exposure to blood, chemicals, fumes, and physical demands including lifting 50 pounds.
