Description
Sperry Rail is hiring a Certified Trainee/Apprentice for a high-travel, field-based Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) non-destructive testing role. The position includes paid hands-on training at the Connecticut-based Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection, followed by extensive field experience across eastern or western United States job sites. The trainee will learn ultrasonic testing, rail detection methods, equipment setup and troubleshooting, safety procedures, and crew collaboration, with advancement to Certified Operator and potential crew leadership. A high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to pass required background and DOT checks are required; prior NDT, railroad, or mechanical experience is preferred. Compensation is $20.00 per hour during paid training and $60,000 annual base salary after certification and promotion.
