Description
Sperry Rail is hiring a Certified Trainee/Apprentice for a field-based, high-travel Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) role requiring travel throughout Canada for extended 3–4 month assignments. The position provides paid hands-on training at the Sperry School of Rail Flaw Detection, followed by extensive field experience and certification in ultrasonic testing. The trainee will learn rail detection methods, equipment setup and troubleshooting, safety procedures, and crew collaboration, with potential advancement to operating a testing platform or leading a crew. A high school diploma or CAEC, valid driver’s license, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to pass required background and DOT checks are required; previous NDT, railroad, or mechanical experience is preferred. Compensation is $22.00 CAD per hour during paid training, increasing to $34.00 CAD per hour after promotion to Chief Operator.
