The Certified School Nurse coordinates and delivers comprehensive health services within Chicago Public Schools, including direct nursing care, emergency response, health counseling, medication management, mandated screenings, communicable-disease coordination, crisis intervention, and support for students with disabilities. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on IEP/504 health-related goals and accommodations and requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Illinois school-nurse educator licensure, an Illinois nursing license, and current CPR certification.
