Description
AWS is hiring a Senior Chief Engineer to join its Data Center Engineering Operations team in Cape Town, South Africa. The role supports the DCEO Cluster Manager and leads facility managers and chief engineers while overseeing the operation and maintenance of mission-critical electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and HVAC. Responsibilities include safety leadership, hiring and coaching staff, vendor management, preventative and corrective maintenance planning, incident management, and continuous improvement. The position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field, experience with design deployment, Microsoft Office and Windows, and power management and monitoring systems; data center project management and critical infrastructure experience are preferred.
