Description
The City Engineer leads and manages the City of Abilene’s Engineering Services Division within the Public Works Department. The role oversees engineering projects, plans, budgets, contracts, staff, and operational procedures; represents the department with City Council, agencies, and the public; and provides technical and administrative leadership for municipal public works. Requirements include a civil engineering bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET-accredited university, five years of progressively responsible post-registration engineering experience, professional engineer licensure in Texas within six months, a Certified Floodplain Manager certification within 12 months, and a Texas driver’s license.
