Description
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs and prioritizes a wide range of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, blood banking, serology, immunology, and microbiology. The role reviews and documents results, evaluates test validity, communicates critical values, maintains equipment and reagents, and supervises laboratory assistants and clerks. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, a valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, and a CLS or Public Health Microbiologist credential are required; clinical laboratory experience and ASCP or NCA certification are preferred.
