Description
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs and prioritizes a wide range of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, blood banking, serology, immunology, bacteriology, and microbiology. The role reviews and documents results, manages quality control, troubleshoots and calibrates equipment, maintains supplies, and communicates critical results to clinicians. It also trains and supervises laboratory assistants and clerks as needed. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant medical or laboratory science field and a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license are required; clinical laboratory experience and ASCP or NCA certification are preferred.
