Description

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is hiring a Cloud and Application Infrastructure Systems Engineer to architect, implement, administer, and support highly available application infrastructure for enterprise services and the LivIT Program. The role involves systems programming and automation, cloud and application infrastructure management, security, monitoring, capacity planning, CI/CD, containerization, and operational support, with a hybrid schedule allowing work from home one or more days per week. The position requires a U.S. Department of Energy Q-level security clearance, U.S. citizenship, a bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience, and significant application and cloud infrastructure experience. The annual salary range is $175,530 to $222,564.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Required Previous Experiences: Significant experience implementing and managing application and cloud service infrastructure, including monitoring, operational support, security, and lifecycle management.
Advanced experience with systems programming and/or automation tools for managing complex application infrastructure.
Significant experience collaborating with customers, IT managers, developers, database administrators, systems administrators, and security administrators to create application infrastructure services.
Advanced experience with public and/or private cloud services and UNIX and/or Windows operating system administration, security, and performance tuning.
Advanced experience managing application infrastructure technologies, including Java Play, Oracle WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, load balancers, API gateways, Docker, AWS EKS, and enterprise commercial off-the-shelf stacks.
Significant experience architecting and managing application and cloud service infrastructures, including implementation, monitoring, operational support, security, and lifecycle management.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
Experience leveraging Splunk or an equivalent SIEM environment to manage application infrastructure services.
Experience in compliance-driven and secure environments, including project management for large enterprise commercial off-the-shelf application implementations.
