Google is hiring a Software Engineer to contribute to Cloud Spanner, a distributed database product for large global deployments. The role involves writing product or system development code, participating in or leading design reviews, reviewing other developers’ code, contributing documentation, and triaging and debugging product or system issues. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, two years of C++ software development experience or one year with an advanced degree in an industry setting, and experience designing and developing distributed databases or storage systems. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, software test engineering, high availability and disaster recovery experience, and database internals expertise. Compensation is $147,000–$210,000 USD plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
