Description
The Medical Coder reviews and abstracts demographic, financial, and clinical data from inpatient and outpatient medical records to assign ICD diagnosis and procedure codes, HCPCS, and CPT codes. The role requires accurate and timely entry of coded information into a computer system, along with knowledge of health information technology, two to three years of relevant education and experience, and AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist certification or certification within one year of hire.
