Description
Suffolk County Council is hiring a permanent Communication Support Worker for its Services for Deaf Children and Young People team. The role is based onsite at Rushmere Hall Primary School in Ipswich and provides 12 hours per week during term time, supporting deaf children and young people’s communication, learning, achievement, and inclusion in mainstream classrooms and specialist provision. The worker will deliver targeted interventions, adapt communication to individual needs, promote deaf awareness, and work under the direction of the Teacher of the Deaf. Applicants should have experience supporting children and young people in educational settings, a basic understanding of British Sign Language, and willingness to undertake BSL training; experience with deaf learners is advantageous but not essential. The salary is £26,016–£29,071 per annum pro rata, and the application closes at 11:30 pm on 11 October 2026.
