The Community Coach I at AbilityFirst supports individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving personal goals and fostering independence through structured programming. Responsibilities include supervising participants, implementing daily activities aligned with Person-Centered Plans, assisting with personal care, facilitating community outings, and completing thorough documentation. The coach ensures participant safety, provides direct services, and contributes to enhancing the overall quality of daily experiences.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
Required Previous Experiences: 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
Preferred Qualifications: 12 ECE (Early Childhood Education) or college units in any related field may be required for childcare programs
Must be able to provide physical assistance including lifting or transferring participants
Willingness to participate in swimming and community activities to assist participants in the pool or in community
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment
Strong understanding of person-centered practices, goal setting, and community integration
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
