The CLOP Ombudsman regularly visits privately run, publicly funded Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities to protect and advocate for residents’ rights, monitor care and treatment, report rights violations, prepare case and activity reports, conduct training and outreach, and coordinate with agency staff. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a social-services-related discipline preferred, three to five years of human-services experience, advocacy or social-work experience preferred, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities. It is a field-based position requiring a dependable automobile, valid driver’s license, current liability insurance, internet access, and a Louisiana State Police background check.
