UKAEA is hiring a Computational Scientist to develop and maintain FreeGSNKE, an open-source tool for modelling tokamak plasma equilibria and evolution. The role applies scientific computing and numerical methods to plasma scenario design, benchmarking, reduced-order modelling, AI-assisted applications, and simulation workflows on modern computing systems, including JAX and GPU-enabled workflows on the SUNRISE supercomputer. The position requires a scientific, engineering, or technical degree plus a PhD or equivalent research experience, programming experience in a scientific computing language, and regular onsite work at UKAEA. The salary is £43,702 inclusive of a £3,300 specialist allowance, with additional pension, leave, and flexible working benefits.
