CSUN is hiring a temporary, renewable, on-call Computer-Aided Transcriber to provide real-time speech-to-print communication access for Deaf or hard-of-hearing consumers, students, faculty, staff, and university guests. The role uses computer-aided transcription software to create meaning-for-meaning transcriptions in classrooms, conferences, and campus events, while also voicing questions and comments entered by consumers. Applicants need certification in the applicable transcribing system, familiarity with higher education, and three months of computer-aided transcribing experience; the position is on-site in Northridge and pays $42.47 per hour, with an anticipated salary range of $19.37 to $194.60 per hour.
