Description
The New York Times is hiring a Conflict Operations Editor to lead newsgathering operations in security-sensitive and conflict zones. The role partners with security experts and senior editors to assess risk, direct field correspondents, establish wartime bureaus, manage crisis and disaster recovery, coordinate evacuations and freelancer support, and protect journalists’ data and devices. It is an in-office position preferably based in London with four days per week in the office, possible remote flexibility, and international deployment as needed. The role reports to the International Editor based in New York and requires conflict-zone journalism experience, crisis-management experience, strong news judgment, communication, and collaboration skills.
