Description
The City of New York is hiring a Construction Inspector to inspect construction, repairs, and alterations of structures for compliance with NYC Construction Codes, Department rules, laws, and approved plans. The role involves reviewing applications and drawings, investigating incidents and complaints, issuing violations and stop-work orders, verifying worker licenses, maintaining records, and potentially supervising or training subordinates. The position is citywide, requires a minimum of 40 hours, and includes physical inspection-site work and possible night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Candidates must pass a drug screening and hold a valid New York State driver's license; construction-trade experience or an acceptable engineering, architectural, construction-management, or construction-training qualification is required.
