Description

The Consultant – Technical and Strategic Communications will support the AVAREF Secretariat in developing public-facing reports, strategic frameworks, business cases, donor documentation, and other communication products for AVAREF’s repositioning, advocacy, and fundraising. The role requires a master’s degree in a relevant field, extensive writing experience, strong communication and public-health knowledge, and English or French proficiency. It is an off-site, home-based consultancy with an initial three-month duration and possible extension, paying USD 7,000–9,980 per month.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Master's degree in public health, medicine, international relations, the social sciences, or the humanities, plus a degree in communication, media arts, literature, anthropology, or a related discipline.
Required Previous Experiences: At least 7 years of writing experience across varied styles and the ability to develop messaging and positioning for an international organization.
Extensive experience writing public-facing documents for advocacy, fundraising, and executive communication.
A track record of academic publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to plan, execute, collaborate, and work independently.
Experience working in Africa or low- and middle-income countries as well as advanced economies.
Preferred Qualifications: Networking, interpersonal, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
Understanding of public health and international development issues.
Knowledge of data collection tools, statistical and communication packages, and Microsoft applications.
Working knowledge of the other language when English or French is the primary language.
