Description

AWS is hiring a Controls Technician to deploy, service, upgrade, troubleshoot, commission, and maintain Building Management Systems and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems in Amazon data centers. The role also includes mentoring facilities staff, managing small projects, configuring industrial controllers and networks, supervising low-voltage contractors, creating documentation, and responding to after-hours emergencies. Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent, technical or trade-school training, and at least one year of experience with computer components, operating systems, and mission-critical low- or medium-voltage systems. The position is based in Sterling, Virginia, with a base salary of 32.93–57.64 USD per hour.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: High school or equivalent diploma, or technical or trade-school diploma and associate degree with one year of relevant industrial instrumentation/controls or electrical or mechanical operations experience.
Required Previous Experiences: At least one year of experience working with computer components and operating systems.
At least one year of experience with mission-critical low- and medium-voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems.
Preferred Qualifications: Basic understanding of industrial controls systems, controllers, and programming, including troubleshooting analog, discrete, and networked I/O signals.
One year of experience in a data center or mission-critical environment.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a relevant discipline.
ISA Certified Controls System Technician Level I or higher certification.
Fundamental knowledge of network design, layout, and low-voltage copper or fiber cabling.
