Description

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is seeking a Convolutor Operator to set up and operate a tube convolution testing machine. The operator will be responsible for various tasks including installing tools, loading tubing, operating computer-controlled programs, trimming hose, measuring dimensions, conducting pressure tests, tracking footage, completing documentation, storing materials, and ensuring safety standards. This is a second-shift position.

Required Skills

Install brass seals, nylon dies, forming dies/mandrels, and compression dies/mandrels.
Load tubing onto forming and compression mandrels.
Operate and adjust computer-controlled programs via touchscreen interface.
Trim hose using a pipe cutter.
Inspect hose using a shadowgraph and wall thickness gauge according to PS 499.
Monitor hydraulic forming pressure.
Measure hose using a micrometer and calipers for dimensional compliance.
Compress formed hose to appropriate PS 499 compression templates.
Test compressed hose using pressure test tooling.
Track footage of used tubing and completed hose.
Complete all required documentation.
Store incoming tubes.
Maintain tooling conditions and manage spare tooling inventory.
Inspection and maintenance of hydraulic components for leaks.
Ensure workplace cleanliness and safety.
Trim hose ends using a band saw.
Mount and operate flattening hose ends on a mandrel.
Swage hose ends to required sizes per PS499 specifications.
Square-cut hose ends.
Install and use manual compression units for PS499-compliant hose compression.
Test finished hose sections in tanks using pressure test tooling.
