Description
The Correctional Officer maintains security and discipline in a correctional institution by searching and housing inmates, patrolling facilities, distributing meals and medication, transporting inmates, guarding work crews, and performing related security and maintenance duties. The role may also handle traffic-sign installation and marking when assigned to traffic engineering. No prior experience is required, but a high school diploma or GED, POST certification within one year, a commercial driver's license or ability to obtain one within six months, and a satisfactory motor vehicle record are required.
