Description

McGill University is hiring one course lecturer/instructor through the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education to teach EDEE 332 710, Teaching Elementary Mathematics 2, during Fall 2026 in Kanehsatà:ke. The role involves teaching pre-service elementary teachers about advanced elementary mathematics pedagogy and the Quebec elementary mathematics program, with online classes Tuesdays and Wednesdays and in-person classes Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. The appointment runs October 12 through December 4, 2026, with instruction from October 27 through November 19, 2026.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Master’s degree; applicants without one may be considered only in exceptional circumstances with significant relevant research or professional experience.
Required Previous Experiences: Teaching or consulting experience with the partnering school board
Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system
Successful experience teaching similar courses to pre-service teachers
Successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities
Experience developing curriculum or instruction grounded in Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies
Knowledge or experience with Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and partnering school board curriculum
Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
Knowledge of colonialism’s impact on Indigenous communities and demonstrated equity, diversity, and inclusion pedagogy
Ability and willingness to adapt course content to the community’s educational, social, and cultural context
Availability for advance online course coordination and planning
