The Craft Operative will maintain and repair canal infrastructure such as locks, bridges, aqueducts, towpaths, and associated equipment across the Canal & River Trust’s London and South East waterways. The role involves outdoor maintenance, bricklaying or other trade work, machinery and plant operation, technical-drawing interpretation, emergency response, and regional travel from Adelaide Dock and the Southall depot. Applicants need operative trade skills, relevant apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, plant-operation experience, bricklaying or stonemasonry experience, technical-drawing ability, and a full UK driving licence. The position offers an annualized hours system, including weekends and bank holidays, and pays £29,354 plus a £4,000 Inner London Allowance.
