GavinHeath is partnering with a client in the Chicago, Illinois area to hire a Critical Operations Engineer I for a direct-hire role. The position operates and maintains data center electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, and building monitoring systems; performs infrastructure build-outs, cabling, power installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance; manages work orders, tickets, CMMS records, and inventory; and provides customer support and advanced remote hands services. The role also coordinates contractors, supports preventive and predictive maintenance, and contributes to operational procedures. Candidates need strong data center systems knowledge, fiber and structured cabling experience, troubleshooting and leadership skills, and 2–5 years of data center or related experience.
