Description

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Data Analytics Principal Engineer to develop visualization solutions for scientific and operational domains. The role involves applying analytics and data science methods to complex data, partnering across functions to create scalable analytics products, and guiding data discovery through querying databases like SQL. This engineer will collaborate with therapeutic development teams to implement advanced analytics and machine learning best practices, coach colleagues on visualization tool usage, and stay updated on emerging technologies.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 8 years of relevant industry experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or related sectors.
Demonstrated experience leading visualization and dashboarding product initiatives using tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Power Apps/Power Automate, or PI Vision.
Experience working with enterprise or laboratory systems such as instrument control systems, sample management systems, electronic lab notebooks (eLN), and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical or life-science data, including process, analytical, formulation or operational data.
Experience using query languages such as SQL to interact with structured data.
Foundational knowledge in statistical analysis and machine learning.
Organizational and project management skills, balancing multiple complex projects across global teams in agile environments (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) with effective customer management.
Proven ability to mentor colleagues, guide technical delivery, and establish standards or reusable practices that improve quality, consistency, and speed of execution.
Preferred Qualifications: Practical experience with Generative AI or LLM-based systems, including prompt design, output evaluation, and integration into analytics solutions.
Experience implementing data quality checks and testing strategies to ensure reliable and trustworthy analytics and outputs.
