OpenGov is hiring a Data Engineer to own end-to-end data modeling, transformation, scheduling, deployment, quality, and analysis for business analytics, product, and AI teams. The role focuses on dbt projects in Snowflake, dimensional modeling, SQL, Python, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and production-ready data solutions. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4–6 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or a similar role.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 4–6 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or a similar role
Hands-on experience building and maintaining dbt projects in a data warehouse, preferably Snowflake
Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
Hands-on experience with core AWS services
Preferred Qualifications: Working exposure to Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
Comfort translating business analytical problems into structured data models
Exposure to workflow orchestrators such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
Familiarity with dbt Mesh or multi-project dbt architectures
Exposure to data ingestion tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, or AWS Glue
Experience working with business application data
Familiarity with BI tooling
Exposure to data cataloging or discovery tools
Exposure to containerized deployments
