Alto Software Group is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineering Manager to lead a small team of data platform engineers. The role involves a 50/50 split between hands-on engineering tasks like writing Python and Terraform, designing systems, and collaborating with various teams to build scalable data platforms. The manager will also focus on recruiting, guiding, and nurturing the engineering team, shaping roadmaps, and contributing to the modernization of data infrastructure.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Experience managing software engineers, particularly data or data platform engineers.
Hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform, with a comfort zone in infrastructure-as-code.
Experience with a modern lakehouse or warehouse platform (ideally Databricks, or alternatively Snowflake/BigQuery), along with proficiency in data ingestion and transformation tools such as Fivetran/DBT.
Familiarity with Kafka or comparable streaming systems, demonstrating an understanding of how event-driven data flows simplify adoption for other teams.
Strong SQL skills and a good grasp of data modeling concepts.
Knowledge of container orchestration (ECS, Kubernetes) regarding data workload execution in production environments.
Preferred Qualifications: A desire to continuously explore and learn new technologies and keep up with evolving industry trends.
An ability to solve problems pragmatically, capable of finding straightforward solutions to intricate challenges amidst ambiguity.
