OpenAI is hiring a Data Scientist to partner with Capacity Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, and Research on optimizing inference capacity across its global GPU fleet. The role involves building statistical and machine learning models, forecasting inference demand, analyzing production workloads, designing scheduling and serving experiments, creating operational dashboards, and communicating insights to engineering and executive stakeholders. Candidates need an MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline or equivalent industry experience, at least five years of infrastructure data science experience, strong Python and SQL expertise, and experience with forecasting, optimization, predictive modeling, experimentation, statistical inference, and causal analysis.
