Description
The Detention Officer performs protective service, inmate custody, security, searches, escorts, meals and medication assistance, booking and release support, recordkeeping, and monitoring of inmate communications and visitation under the supervision of a Detention Sergeant. The role requires high-school-equivalent education or equivalent experience, North Carolina detention officer certification, US citizenship, a North Carolina driver’s license, and successful completion of CASAS, agility, psychological, medical, and drug-screening tests. Compensation is $22.24 per hour for Detention Officers without DOCC and $23.35 per hour for Detention Officers with DOCC, based on an 86-hour two-week pay period.
