Description
The Detention Officer performs specialized inmate intake, detention, care, and release work in Guilford County detention facilities. Duties include booking, cell assignment, inmate security and transport, medical monitoring, visitor and court processing, property searches, release documentation, facility maintenance, and laundry. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant detention, military police, law enforcement, or similar experience; an associate degree in corrections or criminal justice; or a four-year college degree. Applicants must meet North Carolina detention-officer standards and be able to perform physically demanding work in a hazardous and confining environment.
