The U.S. Department of State is hiring a limited number of Foreign Service Security Technical Specialists (STS) to support worldwide technical security programs for Department personnel and facilities. The role involves installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting security systems such as alarms, access control, locks, video systems, X-ray and explosive detection equipment, and networking systems; conducting technical surveys and design evaluations; managing equipment logistics and training; supporting high-level officials and foreign dignitaries; and supervising regional security technicians and junior STS personnel. Candidates must have at least two years of specialized experience in electronic, electrical, or electro-mechanical systems, a high school diploma or equivalent, and must meet specified physical, vision, hearing, and international-readiness requirements.
