Description

Cars Commerce is looking for a Director, Accounting and Reporting to lead their Accounting and SEC Reporting teams. This role involves overseeing daily external financial reporting, ensuring SEC compliance, adhering to US GAAP, and implementing SOX controls for a publicly traded company. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical accountant with proven management experience in a public company setting.

Required Skills

CPA
Big 4 public accounting experience
corporate accounting background
Deep knowledge of US GAAP
Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles
Experience with financial systems
proficiency in SEC reporting tools such as Workiva
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional projects
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT)
Advanced Excel and Google Suite skills
Collaborative, approachable, and self-directed with a strong sense of ownership
Clear, effective communicator — written and verbal

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience including 3+ years in SEC reporting at a US-listed company
