Description

Blend is hiring a Director of AI Engineering to lead the full lifecycle of AI model development, including custom transformer architecture, foundation-model adaptation, data science, MLOps, governance, and production deployment. The role manages AI/ML and MLOps engineering teams, partners with enterprise clients and C-suite stakeholders, supports technical proposals and business development, and establishes engineering standards and responsible AI practices. Candidates need a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field, 10+ years of data science and machine learning experience, and 3–5 years in people management or technical leadership. The starting pay range is $180,000–$240,000, with medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of progressive experience in data science and machine learning
3–5 years in people management or technical leadership
Leading high-performing AI/ML engineering teams in a client-facing or product environment
Designing and training custom transformer architectures from scratch
Applied data science across large-scale datasets
Experience with marketing and telecommunications datasets
SQL and large-scale data platforms
End-to-end MLOps and model governance
Executive communication with C-suite and client audiences
