Description
WEX is hiring a Director of Data Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of an enterprise data lakehouse platform operated as a platform-as-a-product. The role manages a high-performing engineering team working across systems programming and data engineering, with responsibility for lakehouse roadmap execution, internal SDKs and CLI tools, orchestration and control-plane frameworks, distributed-system optimization, governance and security automation, AI-agent data ingestion and evaluation, engineering quality, incident resolution, hiring, and mentorship. The position requires 15+ years of software engineering and distributed-systems experience, including at least 4 years managing platform-scale engineering teams, plus strong Java/Python architecture, data platform APIs, lakehouse technologies, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, AI-native development, and executive communication skills.
