HARMAN is hiring a Director, Intelligent Audio to lead an applied research team focused on AI-enabled audio technology. The role sets technical direction, converts research into commercial-ready audio capabilities, improves research and product workflows, partners with cross-functional leaders, and develops a high-performing team. Candidates need a relevant engineering or science degree, 8–10+ years of audio and AI experience, strong audio fundamentals, applied AI experience, and experience leading technical teams. The position is based in Northridge, California, and offers a salary of $173,250–$254,100 plus benefits.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, Signal Processing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Required Previous Experiences: 8–10+ years of relevant experience in audio technology and AI for audio, including delivery of novel technology into products
Experience leading and developing technical teams, influencing across organizational boundaries, and communicating complex technical visions to senior stakeholders
Experience using modern AI methods to improve audio systems and research workflows
Preferred Qualifications: Experience across consumer, automotive, or professional audio domains
Breadth in beamforming, spatial rendering, signal processing, perceptual audio, sensing, embedded systems, connected devices, speech pickup or generation, or automated dataset collection
Experience with C/C++, modern AI frameworks, perceptual studies, or statistical analysis of subjective tests
Knowledge of Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth LE Audio, and Auracast
Advanced degree, patents, or publications
